Living in a city, whether you have always had a soft spot for animals or not, you certainly will develop one, and I am no exception. We have always had animals around my house but I have never been the sucker to the face of a pet, that was until late. Now with the simple spotting of an ally cat, or a puppy across a park I completely melt. I find myself approaching strangers to simply pet their cute canine or feline friends. Most New Yorkers who have pets I think have grown accustom to that sort of thing, so I am anything but shy about it. This cat was one that was in the hallway of a building at a job interview this passed week, while putting my coat on and leaving the interview, this cat would not leave me alone, and I didn't mind in the least.

Saw this stitched on a the back of a strangers lettermans jacket on the train the other day and got so excited. I have lots of theories about art and college and contradictions between the two. I will save you the heartache, but I myself am a Art School Dropout and this jacket spoke to me. Such a statement. Cheers to you, stranger!

Truly my favorite spot in the city, Cafe Minerva serves as a cafe until 4:00pm when they stop serving the breakfast menu, and switch to the evening wine menu. A true gem tucked away in the West Village, you will catch myself there reading, or working on my computer at least a few times a month, as well as a slew of other bloggers, writers, and celebrities.  I would recommend the coffee and eggs benedict.

Happy Valentines Morning!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine's Day. Either single or committed, it should be a holiday to celebrate love and the people in our lives. I had a pretty calm day, then went out last night with a group of my friends dancing in Midtown celebrating singlehood and our friendships with one another. I hope each of you had a similar experience.

Elliott Evan an up and coming young men's wear designer who's collection could be described as "aggressive, androgynous and practical." A collection featuring solely male models 6" feet and up, sporting long hair, in ratted buns a top their head, and sticking to a mostly blacks and greys. Evan worked a lot with face masks covering the lower half of the face, and the entire neck, and makeup reminiscent of snow on the forehead. Two days after his show a snow storm hit New York and I found myself wishing that I had one of these face masks that he has created.

Located at 49th and Broadway, at the heart of Times Square, Caffe Bene is a great escape from the main stream fast pace energy that is Manhattan. With the feeling of a tucked away hole-in-the-wall cafe in the East Village, they are known for the decadent menu, complete with waffles, all types of coffee, wraps, and even gelatto. Save yourself the commercial Starbucks experience and and treat yourself to something a little more unique. WiFi and Library included.

As a new New Yorker, there are two things I pride myself on in my time in this city. I have not yet paid for a cab, OR given a singular penny to a homeless person. Both of those are hard to resist, as any of you New Yorkers know.
The ultimate annoyance is waiting for the 2 / 3 train at 1am and finding that a typically express route has been turned local, making something that should take 10 minutes take 30. It is times like these that in your drunken haze you begin to question your life, your career, your friends, why you ever moved to New York, and ending with the easy and luxurious choice to simply take a cab. I am proud to say that I have resisted this urge. As far as the homeless people... that is a whole other story. I find myself often counting to ten in attempt to find my patience and not snap on one of the 9 homeless individuals who ask me for money between my apartment and my train platform.
The moral of this story? In this city, patience IS a virtue

The latest trend in this great city we call New York? Doc Martens! That's right, after having been worn on the feet of many since the 40's Doc Marten boots have made a full rise to fame adorning the streets of the big apple everywhere. A well manufactured leather boot, running around $100.00, is now being found, though rather generic in appearance, as a fashion statement. Between the long walk and the snowy streets, and the multi-block walk to and from work, city dwellers have universally decided to cave and allow this boot to be the #1 trend of the winter season.
Also currently on trend? For both genders it is all about the Green Army Jackets, all white high top converse, the brightly colored beanie and the ever essential top button.

MoMA: The Museum of Modern Art located at 11 West 53rd Street typically costs $25.00 upon entrance, except on Fridays at 4:00 when it becomes free. Though crowded and having to wait in a line that circled the block, the line moves quick and it's a great chance to save yourself a buck. If you are particular about your art viewing experience however, I would not recommend it.
The following are some of my captures.

The other night a few friends of mine had planned to grab dinner, and the most central area for us, which often tends to be the case in this city when eating out, was Hells Kitchen. Hells Kitchen is the part of town just west of Midtown and just north of Chelsea located between 34th and 59th Street and from 8th Ave to the Hudson River. Also known as "Clinton" or "Midtown West" this area is particularly famous for their bars and restaurants. Any type of food you could want and in any sort of ambiance, Hells Kitchen makes for a perfect date area, or perfect for grabbing drinks with friends.
We chose PURE Thai Cookhouse located on 9th Ave between 51st and 52nd, it'd be easy to walk right passed being extremely small and tucked between bigger restaurants. Inside the atmosphere is really cute and industrial. However the entire restaurant may only seat 30 tops, this place is very quaint. The food is great and perhaps the cheapest meal I've had in the city thus far. However, beware!! The food stamped with the "spicy" label is no lie. I had a hard time getting through my delicious plate being that the spiciness was overwhelming. After tasting my friends Pad Thai and other dishes, collectively the night was a success. Good service, Tasty Food, Inexpensive prices, Fun atmosphere, and convenient location.
